We are not-for-profit organisation that helps transform cities and rural areas to benefit the millions who lack access to water and sanitation. Access to clean drinking water and a decent sewage disposal system are things that many of us take for granted, but the lack of decent sanitation in parts of the developing world is still having severe effects.
Equal access to essential health, clean water and sanitation services continue to be a priority for India, which houses one-sixth of the world’s population. We work alongside local providers, enabling them to develop services, build infrastructure, and attract funding so that they can reach low-income communities.
India faces significant challenges in the provision of quality water, sanitation, solid waste management and drainage. Inequality in access is acute, with more than 90% of urban residents accessing sanitation facilities compared to only 39% in rural India. Additionally, 44% of the population continues to defecate in the open.
We seek to change the way that cities and rural areas provide access to water and sanitation for low-income communities, improving health and living standards for the poorest residents.
